How does the Class IV Laser work?

It supplies energy to the body in the form of photons of light. Light is transmitted through the skin’s layers (the dermis, epidermis and subcutaneous tissue under the skin). The wavelength of the Class IV Laser allows these photons to travel deep into the body  to treat deeper levels of pain.

Increased circulation

The light helps form new blood vessels to replace damaged ones. These new capillaries carry more oxygen and nutrients to the damaged area and more waste products away to help healing.

Stimulates the production of collagen

Collagen is the protein substance in skin, tendons, bones, cartilage and all other connective tissues. Collagen repairs damaged tissue, replaces old tissue and holds cells together. By increasing collagen production less scar tissue is formed at the damaged site.

Increases RNA and DNA synthesis

DNA and RNA hold all the information needed to control every process in the human body. The body has over 100,000 different proteins to manufacture continuously. By stimulating cells to increase DNA and RNA, the damaged cells may be replaced more promptly.

Stimulates fibroblastic activity, which aids in the repair process

Fibroblasts are special cells that secrete fibers and other substances in order to provide a structural framework for many tissues and to heal or repair damaged tissue.

Stimulates tissue granulation and growth of connective tissue

These tissues are essential to the healing process of wounds, ulcers or inflammation.

Stimulates the release of adenosine tri-phosphate (ATP)

ATP carries energy to all cells. It accelerate the ability of cells to accept nutrients and dispose of waste products. It also provides the energy required to drive all chemical reactions within a cell.

Increases lymphatic system activity

Edema, which is the swelling or natural splinting process of the body, has two basic components. The first is a liquid part, which can be evacuated by the blood system and the second is comprised of proteins, must be evacuated by the lymphatic system. Research has shown that the diameter of lymph vessels and the flow of the lymph system can be doubled with Laser therapy. The diameter of veins and arteries can also be increased. This means that both parts of edema (liquid and protein) can be evacuated at a much faster rate to relieve swelling.
